FW Calendar Conflict between NY and Milan

Leave a comment

The show must go on; no matter what happens! The breaking news vibrates the ground. It is none other than the displeasure conflict between NY and Milan about upcoming year’s fashion week agendas.

In 2008, the four leading global fashion week organizers – NY:  the Council of Fashion Designers of America, London: British Fashion Council, Paris: Chambre Syndicale, and Milan: Camera Nazionale della Moda – met and agreed upon adhering the  “Second Thursday Rule”. According to agreement;  New York Fashion Week will always start on the second Thursday of February and September and Paris will close the fashion week calendar for corresponding year. Apparently;

New York: 2nd Thursday – 3rd Thursday
London: 3rd Friday – 4th Tuesday
Milan: 4th Wednesday – following Wednesday (1/2 day)
Paris: To commence the same final ½ day of Milan and continue for 9 days

Thus, Spring/Summer 2013 Collections are expected to be as follows:

New York: Thursday, September 13– Thursday, September 20, 2012
London: Friday, September 21 – Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Milan: Wednesday, September 26– Tuesday, October 2, 2012
Paris: Tuesday, October 2– Wednesday, October 10, 2012

However, so many has changed since then. Milan is claiming that the agreement was for three years; then they don’t show a will to fit their schedule on the estimated potential schedule. According to the sources; Milan wants to start their shows due on 19 September rather than 26th. They want their schedule to be pushed back; nonetheless in that condition, London and NY will have to change their calendar according to Milan’s inquiry. As a consequence! now the four big fashion capitals are currently in negotiations. We’ll see and I will keep on posting the upcoming news related with schedules.

Moda diyarı karıştı! Gündemimizdeki hadise; New York ve Milano’ nun başı çektiği moda takvimi hadisesindeki karışıklık. Sözkonusu anlaşmaya göre; her yıl New York moda haftalarının başlangıcını yaparken Paris’ te kapanışı tamamlamakta.

New York: 2. Perşembe – 3. Perşembe
London: 3. Cuma – 4. Salı
Milan: 4. Çarşamba – Takip eden Perşembe (yarım gün)
Paris: Milano’ nun kapanış günü ve takip eden 9 gün

Halihazırda istatistiki olarak kabul gören takvim bu olunca 2012 ajandasını tahmin etmek de çok zor olmamakta. 2013 ilkbahar/ yaz koleksiyonları için öngörülen etkinlik takvimi;

New York: 13 Eylül Perşembe– 20 Eylül Perşembe, 2012

Paris’ in cevabı merakle beklenmekte ve tüm gözler Milano’ nun durum karşısında izleyeceği taktikte.
